Wer gerne eine gut sortierte Musiksammlung hat, der kommt nicht darum herum, seine gekauften CDs ordentlich zu kodieren und lässt dabei am besten die Albuminformationen automatisch mit einer Datenbank abgleichen. Hat man diese Chance verpasst und ungetagte MP3s auf der Festplatte liegen, so müssen die Tags entweder mühevoll von Hand nachgetragen werden, oder man bemüht die Software von MusicBrainz.

The vector graphics program Inkscape is a free and easy to use tool for creating and modifing SVG and other vector graphics files. It has many export filters and can export to file formats as PDF, PNG or PS. Currently I use it to draw the pictures for a thesis at university, which I write in Lyx/Latex. To include my images, I need to export them to PDF. This is not a problem at all, but the manual solution is quite annoying. Thus I decided to write a little command line Inkscape export script.

You might have read my article on how to do snapshot backups with the Plone repozo script. While it is still useful, because of the installation instructions, it contains, for everyday use you need a different backup and maintenance strategy than doing full or "snapshot" backups. This was also the case for me and the site I administer. My requirements for this were:

1. Packing of database every month
2. Nightly backup
3. Transfer backup files to a safe place

All of this to be done without interaction and on a automated schedule.
